Banks-Vernonia: "not to be missed"

In the past month I've biked the fabulous Banks-Vernonia trail twice - I consider it a local treasure.  I just got a tip from a friend that it was featured in this Boston Globe article.  Read it, then ride it!

Pedalpalooza!

This is pretty exciting: I've just scheduled my first-ever Pedalpalooza events!  They're two overnight bike camping trips along the Banks-Vernonia State Trail, my favorite local bike trip.  I've got a mid-week trip on 6/11, as well as a weekend trip on 6/15, so that everyone can come along.  For more info, check out the Pedalpalooza 2013 calendar.

Also, coming soon: Cascadia Bike Tours.  It's gonna be an awesome bike touring summer!  I'm just sayin'...

This Soma's in a "Rush"

Just ordered this 57cm Soma Rush track frame for our good friend Owen, with a chrome lugged fork and Vuelta Pista crank.  He's a pretty handy guy, so he built it up himself, with components he already had on hand.  The matching red badge, cable guides, and seat accents look super sweet, Owen - good job!

I've got the same frame, a 2008 I believe, and that particular year it came in bright red - it's probably the flashiest thing I own, and one of my favorite bikes of all time.  The ride quality of the Tange Prestige steel is just...so...buttery...

If you want one, the frame and fork can be yours for around $450.

Another Pake C'Mute Custom Build

We love building up this super-affordable steel frame, and our customers love their new bikes!  This one was for Simone, who was in the market for a versatile commuter with touring capabilities.  Naturally, we opted for a triple chainring and drop bars with Ultegra 9sp bar-end shifters.  Notice how perfectly the saddle detail matches the red bar tape - that was Simone's idea.  This particular frame was a 52cm, and the total for the finished bicycle was $1,200.  Not too bad.

We've got a 56cm C'Mute in the shop that is waiting to be built up, and if you're between 5'8" and 6', it could be your next bike...

Hey, remember the early 90's?

This sweet bash guard is probably from that era.  It's a mountain bike bash guard, called the Rock Ring.  Mauve paint splattered over a deep magenta background.  Wish I had an outfit to match.  Super sweet.  Yeah.
